The United Nations’ General Assembly High-Level Meeting on antimicrobial resistance: a joint statement from the Heads of Government and Chief Medical Officers of the United Kingdom’s Overseas Territories
UK Overseas Territories (UKOTs) are small, remote territories with historical and territorial links to the UK. They are linked to ecosystem instability, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR), climate change, and biodiversity disruption. In June 2024, UKOTs Chief Medical Officers expressed concerns about global AMR and expressed hopes for the United Nations’ General Assembly High-Level Meeting in September 2024. They aim to achieve united global political will to reduce AMR threats through equitable access to treatments, sanitation, accurate diagnostics, and public education.
